Contractor Agreement
Mugwort & Mint Medical Billing is committed to providing transparent and clear services to our clientele. We provide clients with a contractor agreement that outlines all expectations and responsibilities for both parties prior to providing any professional services. Mugwort & Mint Medical Billing operates exclusively as an independent contractor, not a private employee. As such, we utilize an independent contractor agreement, which is a legal contract that defines the working relationship, scope of work, payment terms, and responsibilities between a business and non-employee contractor. Mugwort & Mint Medical Billing reviews and updates contracts annually following the fiscal calendar (July through June), and will provide 30 days notice of any significant change to an upcoming contract.
Business Associate Agreement
As a contracted business that has access to patient protected health information (PHI), we are legally required under The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 to provide our clients with a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). This is a contractual obligation stipulating that Mugwort & Mint Medical Billing will adhere to all HIPAA standards while working with our clients. BAAs also set legal boundaries around appropriate usage of PHI, and outline requirements for both the contracted business and the covered entity. One of these requirements is periodic refreshers in HIPAA compliance training, which Mugwort & Mint Medical Billing updates annually.
